2013 Persib Stats

Ended the 2011-12 Indonesia Super League (ISL) season on the 8th position, Persib took a major change on their roster composition before the start of the 2013 season. Persib management decided to release almost all of their foreigners namely Mohd. Noh Alam Shah, Marcio Souza, Robert Mark Gaspar, as well as Miljan Radovic, and to keep only Abanda Herman from previous season. Several locals were also released as their contribution seemed poor by the management, such as Jendry Pitoy, Zulkifli Sukur, M. Nasuha, M. Ilham, and Aliyudin. Meanwhile, Atep, Maman Abdurrahman, Tony Sucipto, and Hariono were being kept.

Persib signed major names at the beginning of the season. They pulled 3 Persiba players (the side who beat them home and away on the previous season) I Made Wirawan, Asri Akbar, and Kenji Adachihara. From 2011-12 ISL Champions, Sriwijaya FC, they signed Firman Utina, Supardi, and M. Ridwan. They signed Syrian Naser Al-Sebai to accompany Abanda Herman on defence, as well as Herman Dzumafo Epandi upfront. They also signed Messi… not Lionel, but Cameroonian Mbhida Georges. But their best signing had to be Serginho van Dijk. The Dutch-born Indonesian set up a new signing record for local player, and he delivered.
 

On the coaching staff, Robby Darwis was being relieved from his caretaker role. The  management called upon Djadjang Nurjaman, former Pelita Jaya assistant manager to lead Maung Bandung’s campaign on the 2013 ISL.
 

Success on signing many sponsors has made Persib a well-funded, financially independent team. With that and a really good roster, Persib aimed to become Champion of 2013 ISL.

 
Indivudual Stats
 

 
With only 23 players, Persib was the club with least number of player listed on the line-up of the season. In fact, they only had 22 players on their roster for the whole season, with Herman Dzumafo-Hilton Moreira swap at the second transfer window. Moreover, from those 22 players, 1 player (Cecep Supriyatna, 3rd choice goalkeeper) did not even get a single playing minute, while youngster Sigit Hermawan only played once throughout the season! But with a very limited yet efficient resource, they went through the season with a good performance.
 
They scored 72 goals throughout the season, which made them the 2nd most productive team, 10 goals less than Persipura. From total 72 goals, Persib players scored 71 of them, 1 goal came from Gusripen Effendi’s (PSPS) own goal. Those 71 goals came from 15 different players, 9 locals and 6 foreigners. 45 goals were scored by the locals, while foreigners scored combined number of 26 goals. 3 of 71 goals were scored from the spot. Serginho van Dijk became club’s top scorer with 21 goals (2 penalties). Among the top 4, Persib suffered more goals with 43.

Mbida Georges Messi scored Persib’s first and last goals of the season. The first one came as an equalizer against Persipura on the first match and he scored the last one against Persiwa on their last match of the season.

Serginho van Dijk holds the league’s record of scoring streak. He scored 10 goals in 9 consecutive matches, from February 27 (v PSPS) to April 20 (v Arema).

Although lack of density, Persib’s defense showed quite the productivity. 10 goals came from players on the defense zone. Midfield players scored 18 goals, while strikers scored 43 goals.
 
Persib’s disciplinary record was among the top 4 on yellow cards. Their yellow card collection (45) was just under PSPS (41), Persipura (43), and Persiwa (44). Those 45 yellow cards were awarded to 16 different Persib players, 10 locals and 6 foreigners. 25 yellow cards were for the locals, and 20 for the foreigners. Abanda Herman received more yellow cards than any other Persib player with 8. Right under Abanda, are Firman Utina and Hariono with 7 yellow cards each. Their first yellow card was for Hariono when they played Persipura on the first match, and the last one was for Hilton Moreira, against the same club on the second meeting.
 
Only 2 red cards awarded for Persib players throughout the season. The first one was for Firman Utina (away v Arema), while the second was for Abanda Herman (away v Persiba).

M. Ridwan won the spot on Persib’s starting line-up in all 34 matches. Along with Zulkifli Sukur (Mitra Kukar), he holds league’s most appearance as starter. He scored 12 goals and only received 1 yellow card throughout the season. Meanwhile, most appearance as substitute goes to Airlangga with 22. He had no starter appearance the whole season.

At the beginning of the season, Persib were quite struggling with their performance. They only got 6 points on their first 6 matches, which brought them on the 15th spot of the table. But right after the 6th match, they were getting better, as Serginho van Dijk found his form. Side note: due to paperwork atrocities, van Dijk started the season on the 5th match (v Persisam). Persib went through 7 consecutive winning run from their March 13 (v Pelita Bandung Raya) to April 28 (v Persepam MU), which is league’s shared record with Arema. They won 5 home and 2 away matches during that period.
 
Their biggest home win margin of the season is 4 in 2 matches (4-2 v Sriwijaya, 5-1 v Persita). The match against Persita is also their record of most goals scored in a match of the season. They only lost once at home (1-2 v Persiram). Away from home, their biggest win margin is also 4 (4-0 v PSPS). Their biggest lose margin is 2 (2-4, away v Mitra Kukar).

Persib’s total home attendance recorded 363,893, which is league’s second best below Arema’s. It has 23.9% increase from the previous season (293,571). Kick off schedule really had impact on their attendance. Matches which kicked-off in weekday afternoon attracted fewer attendance than matches in weekends. But that didn’t have much impact on their record. Even their fewest number reached 10,000+ on attendance when they played against Pelita Bandung Raya (on Tuesday afternoon). Their season’s record came when they hosted Arema, which attracted 26,857 spectators.

Persipura’s superiority and consistent performance, along with Persib’s poor away records, only put Atep & co. on the 4th position at the end of 2013 ISL season, with 63 points gathered from 18 wins, 9 draws, and 7 defeats. Persib actually ended the season on the 3rd spot, but Mitra Kukar had 2 more games to play after Persib played their last match of the season. Mitra Kukar won the 2 matches and pulled Persib down to the 4th.

Other Stats
 
Persib holds the record of most matches being broadcasted of the season. In fact, out of total 34, only 4 of their matches that were not broadcasted, which are matches played in Papua region. Their other 30 matches (17 home and 13 away) were broadcasted. With many sponsors attached to their brand, it’s no surprise that they hold the record. ANTV broadcasted 11 of Persib’s home matches, while TvOne broadcasted 6 of them. On away matches, 4 matches were broadcasted by ANTV, and 9 by TvOne.
 
Persib’s clean sheet record was not as good as their scoring record. They only had 6 clean sheets on their record, 4 at home and 2 away.

2013 Persija Stats

The 2014 Indonesia Super League (ISL) season is about to start in a couple of days. Before the new season begins, I’d like to share Persija’s stats from the previous 2013 season. It is late, I know, but it’s better to be late than not showing, right?

As you may already know, at the end of the season, Persija was on the 11^th spot with 42 points from 12 wins, 6 draws, and 16 defeat. They scored 46 goals and conceded 45. Not a good result compared with 2011-2012 season, where they ended the campaign on the 5^th position.

Persija had a lot of problem even before the season started. Some players, including the iconic Bambang Pamungkas, refused to extend their stay at the club due to unfulfilled terms by the club. Hence, a poor display of performance by Macan Kemayoran at the beginning of the season.

With a very limited quality on the squad, the management decided to sack coach Iwan Setiawan after 11 matches (2W, 2D, 7L, 12-22, 18^th position). They called back Benny Dollo to lead Persija to salvation.

It took 4 matches for Coach Benny before he won his first 3 points. After that, Persija’s performance got better. As the club managed to get new sponsors, they utilized the second transfer window neatly by signing several quality players to lift their performance, such as Rohit Chand, Emmanuel Kenmogne, Lam Hok Hei, and Andritany Ardhiyasa. In fact, Persija is the most improved club of the 2013 ISL season after the half-season break. They secured 10 wins, 3 draws, and 4 defeats on the second half of the season.

Players' Individual Stats

Throughout the season, Persija utilized 32 players, 25 locals and 7 foreigners. Each of those players have earned playing minutes. Both Fabiano and Amarzukih hold most appearance as starter with 30 starts. Robertino Gabriel Pugliara shares total number of appearance with Fabiano and Amarzukih (30), but his name only showed 26 times on the starting line-up.

 

In total, Persija scored 45 legitimate goals + 1 own goal. The 45 legitimate goals came from 12 different players, 6 locals, 6 foreigners. The locals scored 12 and the foreigners scored 33. 4 goals are scored from the spot. 24 goals were scored by strikers, 16 by midfields, and 5 from players on the defensive zone.

Persija’s disciplinary record on the 2013 season is quite poor. 63 yellow cards were awarded to 21 players. 16 different local players received a combined number of 45 yellow cards, while 18 were awarded to 5 different foreigners. Fabiano holds most yellow card received with 8, followed by his defensive tandem, A. A. Ngurah Wahyu Trisnajaya with 7 yellow cards. 3 Persija players were sent off throughout the season: Fabiano da Rosa Beltrame, Defri Riski, and Park Kyeong Min.

Persija’s activity on the second transfer window was vaguely successful. They signed 7 players, where 6 of them became regular starter on the second half of the season. Kenmogne Emmanuel is undoubtedly the most successful signing. Replacing Pedro Javier up front, he managed to score 14 goals in 16 matches. He is also club’s top scorer of the season.

Home Attendance Record

Out of 17 home games, Persija played 7 of them outside Jakarta (in Solo and Sleman) due to security reasons. They also had to play 3 home matches behind closed doors for the same reason. Nonetheless, they were still able to attract 100,000+ spectators on 7 matches played at Stadion Utama Gelora Bung Karno and 7 matches played as a wanderer. Their record on most attendance came when they hosted Arema, which attracted 21,463 spectators. The other big match against Persib was played in Sleman on a Wednesday afternoon, but still managed to reach 20,000+ spectators.

Benny Dollo’s impact on bringing Persija to salvation can be seen (especially) after the half-season break. He managed to lift Persija from the bottom of the table up to the 9^th position in 10 games, and ended the season on the 11^th. This was also helped by good signings in the second transfer window.

Other stats

Persija’s matches were being broadcasted 25 times out of 34, with the composition of 13 home matches and 12 away matches. On home matches, 10 were broadcasted by ANTV, and 3 by TvOne. While for away matches, each ANTV and TvOne got 6 matches.

In terms of clean sheets, Persija is on the top 3 with 11 clean sheets (same number with Mitra Kukar). 5 clean sheets recorded at home, and 6 from away matches.

Persija recorded biggest away win margin when they trashed PSPS 6-0 away in Pekanbaru, which is also season’s record. At home, their biggest winning margin is 5-0 against Persita. Their biggest home defeat margin is 0-3 against Persepam MU, where they had to play the game in Solo. Away, their biggest defeat came from Sriwijaya FC with 4 goals to 1.
